BSNM Annual Meeting 2025

On the 2nd – 3rd September, the BSNM hosted our Annual Meeting (#BSNM2025) at Queen’s University Belfast beautiful Riddel Hall. The programme featured scientific presentations, interactive discussions, and networking opportunities with internationally recognised experts. Participants highlighted emerging trends, shared ongoing research, and explored avenues for future collaboration.
With our distinguished keynote speakers, Professor Dame Ijeoma Uchegbu (University College London), Dr Mike Mitchell (University of Pennsylvania), Professor Marcelo Calderon (POLYMAT Spain), Professor Ed Lavelle (Trinity College Dublin), Professor Helen McCarthy (Queen’s University Belfast) and Professor Jonathan Coulter (Queen’s University Belfast), and delegates joining us from across Europe and America spanning the scientific pathway, from early career researchers, academics and industry experts from across Europe, creating a lively and inspiring scientific programme.
The best poster presentation was jointly awarded to Marwa Gharib from Queen’s University Belfast for her work on Nanoparticle-Based Delivery of Molecular Glue Degraders for Targeted Protein Degradation in Cancer Therapy and Lydia Thompson from University of Manchester, for her work on Exploiting post-resection blood-brain barrier permeability for liposomal delivery of glioblastoma therapies.
The best oral presentation was jointly awarded to Ciaran McGranaghan from Queen’s University Belfast for his work on the Cell-selective nano-delivery of nucleic acids for treatment of Glioblastoma and Alex Clarke from University of Southampton for her work on Killing Intracellular Pathogens with Antibiotic Nanocapsules.

BSNM Annual Meeting 2024

On the 9th-10th September, the BSNM hosted our Annual Meeting (#BSNM2024) in the beautiful Emmanuel College, University of Cambridge, UK.
Alongside our esteemed keynote speakers, Professor Laura Itzhaki (University of Cambridge), Professor George Malliaras (University of Cambridge), Professor Moein Moghimi (Newcastle University) and Professor Nguyen T. K. Thanh (University College London), we were delighted to welcome Dr Kevin Jackson (Waters Wyatt), Dr Alexander Dulebo (Bruker), Dr Stephane Mazlen (Izon), and Dr Nisha Ponnappan (Medicines Discovery Catapult) as invited speakers.
The best poster presentation was jointly awarded to Sophia Belser from University of Cambridge for her work on Probing local thermodynamics of organelles at the nanoscale with spin-based, biocompatible thermometry and rheometry. and Alexander Evtushenko also from University of Cambridge, for his work on Protein-Based Nanotechnology for the Treatment of Pancreatic Ductal Adenocarcinoma.
The best oral presentation was jointly awarded to Anna Scheeder from University of Cambridge for her work on the Molecular Mechanisms of Cationic Fusogenic Liposome Interactions with Bacterial Envelopes and Rory Hills from University of Oxford for his work on Quartet Nanocages Elicit Broad Anti-Coronavirus Humoral Immunity to Facilitate Proactive Vaccinology.
Also, a BSNM first, a prize for outstanding innovation was awarded to Oliver Vanderpoorten from UiT The Arctic University of Norway, for his work on the NANOSPACER.

Nanomed Europe 2023

The British Society for Nanomedicine (BSNM) are proud to have been a part of the Nanomed Europe 2023 Conference with European Technology Platform for Nanomedicine and University of Liverpool. This event built on the successes of our previous meetings and will took place in Liverpool on the 19th & 22nd June 2023.

BSNM Annual Meeting 2022

The British Society for Nanomedicine (BSNM) Annual Meeting 2022 took place in Swansea University, on the 22nd & 23rdAugust 2022. It provided an excellent opportunity for researchers to showcase innovative research and discuss outputs and opportunities with both senior and young researchers and experts within the field of nanomedicine.
